The Hermitage collection of arms and armour is one of the best in the world and includes about 14,000 articles.
The exhibits trace the evolution of defensive arms, side arms, and firearms from both the technical and artistic points of view.
The collection also includes commemorative articles associated with the Russian Tsars, gifts presented to their heirs and gifts presented by historic personalities to the Russian statesmen.
Yuri Efimov has worked at the Hermitage museum since 1964. He became a member of the Arsenal team in 1976. Being a specialist in ancient weapons, Mr. Efimov takes part in organising exhibitions of the collection in Russia and abroad. |
